John Carlson

 

John Carlson - Secretary

John Carlson is an attorney practicing law in Kerrville focusing on estate planning, trust, guardianship and probate matters. Other areas include business organization, real estate and general civil litigation. John is a graduate of Tivy High School in Kerrville, The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelors of Science in mathematics and The University of Texas School of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence.  John's involvement in community organizations includes: State Bar of Texas - Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section; Kerr County Bar Association; Hill Country Estate Planning Council; Hill Country Young Men's Business League; Kerrville Public School Foundation; Hill Country Dispute Resolution Center.  He is a member of the Kerrville First United Methodist Church where he has served on the Council of Ministries and Staff-Relations Committee; currently, he serves as the director of the praise team for the Contemporary Worship service.  John is married to Nicki and they have three children Rachel, Grace and Jonathan. He enjoys playing guitar, watching sports especially Texas Longhorns and Tivy Antlers.

 

Nancy Dickinson

 

Nancy Dickinson

Nancy grew up in Dallas, Texas.   She received her Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas, and her Masters in Psychology-Marriage & Family from Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas.  Nancy is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage & Family Counselor.  She has been in private practice since 1977.  While living in Dallas, Nancy was an adjunct professor of psychology at Richland Community College.  She and her husband, Phil, live in Hunt, Texas.  Nancy has two sons that are successful in business. She is a member of the Hunt United Methodist Church and serves on the church's Board of Trustees.  She is an active volunteer with the Peterson Regional Medical Center and serves on the board of the Greystone Academy at Schreiner University.  She enjoys gardening as a Master Gardener.  Nancy and her husband enjoy traveling, visiting their grandchildren and taking classes at Schreiner University.

Denny Foster

Denny is the owner of Lemon Tree Cleaners. Prior to purchasing the business he spent more than 20 years in the Telecommunications industry in various sales and leadership positions.  Denny has lived in the Hill Country for over 20 years.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the Kerrville Noon Rotary Club and a 2010 graduate of Leadership Kerr County.

His wife, Shanna, was raised in Comfort; she is currently a teacher at Medina Elementary.  They have two children, a son, Justin, who is a junior at Texas A&M Kingsville, and a daughter, Rylie, who is a 9-year-old 4th grader.

Chaille Hawkins

 

Chaille Hawkins

Chaille and her family own and operate Camps Rio Vista and Sierra Vista.  She married her husband, Freddie, in 1980 and moved to Ingram where they have raised their three children.  Chaille earned her B.A. in Economics from the University of Texas-Austin and worked in banking prior to joining the camps full-time in 1988. She is active in her community and is a mentor for Ingram Middle School.  She currently serves as president of the Hill Country CASA Board, serves on the Friends and Faculty of Ingram Tom Moore High School Scholarship/Endowment Board and is a trustee of the Sterling-Turner Foundation in Houston, Texas.  Chaille enjoys musical theatre, reading and traveling and spending time with her grandson.

 

Robert Kelly

 

Robert Kelly - President

Rob has lived in Kerrville since 1993 and has practiced law for over 35 years. Before moving to the Hill Country, he was a partner in the biggest law firm in San Antonio where he served on the management committee. He still does commercial litigation and general practice but specializes in alternate dispute resolution. He is a past member of the ADR Council of the State Bar of Texas. He is a past president of the Kerrville School Board. He has been associated with Habitat for Humanity for over 20 years in San Antonio and Kerrville where he served three terms as president. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kerrville and has taught Sunday school. He is a past lay director for the Hill Country Emmaus Community and Walk to Emmaus. He served on the Unit Advisory Council for the Torres Unit of Kairos Prison Ministries. He currently serves on the Grants Committee, Development Committee and chairs the Property Management Committee.

Betty Mosty is an active member in a variety of church and community organizations including: Sunday school teacher, Bible Study leader, Sr. Warden, St. Peter's School Board member, Vacation Church School Director 5 times, Past President Episcopal Church Women, Lenten Speaker, Happening Parish Coordinator, Stewardship Chairman, and Finance Committee.  Betty's community involvement includes: United Way Executive Director 5 years, Past President Charity Ball, Past President Kerrville Public School Foundation, Past President Peterson PTO, Friends of the Library Board, Partners in Ministry Board, and Chairman of the Christmas drive for the Good Samaritan Center. She is married to Richard an attorney in Kerrville and they live in Center Point, Texas.  They have 3 children and 4 grandchildren.

Lyndia Rector

 

Lyndia Rector

Lyndia was born and raised in Kerrville. After graduating from Tivy High School she attended the University of Texas where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and worked primarily in the Emergency Room before teaching Medical-Surgical Nursing. In 1964 Lyndia married Dr. William Rector and they have enjoyed living in Japan, Denver, Nashville, and Mobile. In 1980 she had the opportunity to move back “home”. Lyndia then left nursing to become a full time wife and mother to their two children. She has enjoyed many volunteer opportunities within the Kerrville community. In 1986 she bought her current retail gift business, Cricket’s, and in 1999 opened her second retail store, Hill Country Living, specializing in tableware. Lyndia has been actively involved in the restoration of downtown Kerrville. She was instrumental in establishing the Kerrville Main Street program and has served on that board as well as the Arcadia Theater Board and the Kerrville Downtown Business Association. Her businesses are currently in buildings that her and her husband have bought and restored. In addition to serving on the Community Foundation Board she also is a past member of the Board of the Dietert Center. Lyndia currently Chairs the Grants Review Committee and is on the Nominating Committee.

 

Mike Stavinoha

 

Mike Stavinoha

Mike is a builder in the Kerrville area. Previously, he owned and operated Ray's Marine for 17 years in San Antonio. He was a founding board member of Guadalupe Bank in Kerrville.  Mike lives with his wife, Stacey, and daughter, Samantha, in Comanche Trace.

 

 

 

Roy Thompson

Roy Thompson

Roy is the President and CEO of Union State Bank in Kerrville. He is the current Chairman of the Kerrville Economic Foundation; past board member of the Museum of Western Art; past chairman and board member of the Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce; and founding member of the Young Men’s Business League. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church. Roy currently serves as the Foundation’s President.

 

Mark Tuschak

 

Mark Tuschak - Vice President

Mark Tuschak serves as Vice President for Advancement and Public Affairs at Schreiner University.  Tuschak came to Schreiner from the Texas A&M Foundation where he was Director of Development for the Texas A&M Agriculture Program. His 26 years of fund raising and advancement experience includes work at the University of Texas at Austin, Southwest Texas State University, and the American Cancer Society.  Tuschak has a master's degree in business administration from Texas State University and earned his bachelor's degree in political science at Texas A&M.  Tuschak enjoys coaching little league t-ball, softball and youth soccer, serving on the Hill Country Youth Orchestra, Arcadia Theater, and Riverside Nature Center boards, serving as a volunteer and chair of logistics for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, and was a member of the 2005 class of Leadership Kerr County and the 2008 ACTS Retreat team. He currently serves on the board of the Kerr Area Chamber of Commerce and is Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee. Mark also serves on his church's Finance Council. Additionally, he has done pro-bono fund raising consulting for several local non-profit organizations.  Tuschak has Kerrville roots courtesy of his wife, Shannon, a 1983 graduate of Tivy High School and daughter of Edgar and Nancy Wallace. The Tuschaks have two children: Katerina, age 11, and Kristina, age 9. His parents, Dan and Roie Tuschak, live in San Antonio.

Chris Wallendorf

Chris Wallendorf is an attorney practicing law in Comfort in the area of general law and litigation. His focus is in the areas of real estate; family law; probate and estate planning and mediation.  Chris is a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Fredericksburg, a graduate of North Texas State University with a Bachelors of Arts Cum Laude in Foreign Languages and a graduate of the South Texas School of Law in Houston with a Doctor of Jurisprudence.  Chris' involvement in community organizations includes: State Bar of Texas - Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution and General Practice and Family Law Sections; Kendall County Bar Association; Member of the Comfort Chamber of Commerce; Hill Country Dispute Resolution Center; additionally, he has served on several different boards in the Comfort area.  Chris is married to Anne, and they have two children, Mariechen and Graham.

 

Dave Weekley

 

Dave Weekley - Member at Large

Dave was raised in the oil-fields of Western Pennsylvania and earned a Petroleum Engineering Degree at Penn State. His career in upstream drilling and production operations with Amoco/BP took him overseas and he lived and worked in eight foreign countries during a 35 year career.  He retired to the Hill Country of Texas in 2002 and is active in various Christian Ministries. Dave was instrumental in starting up the Christian Men's Job Corps of Kerr County and served as President of the CMJC Advisory Council for five years. He also served on the board of Partners in Ministry, a local chapter of the Leadership Foundations of America. Dave is very active in his church, St. Peter's Episcopal, and is currently serving on their Vestry.  Mary, his wife of 41 years, is a native of Tyler, Texas. They have two grown sons-Michael, an HP manager who lives in Houston with his wife and two grandsons, and Marc, a NOAA Officer stationed in Galveston.
