Create A Smile Fund

The #2 cause of school absences is dental-related.  Only the common cold beats out dental issues.  When a child has a throbbing cavity or even a more serious issue, learning cannot occur.  Mouth pain can be unbearable, but with the cooperation of school nurses, parents, dentists and The Community Foundation staff, we are working to eliminate pain associated with dental problems and enable learning for students in the Texas Hill Country.

The Create A Smile Fund aids Hill Country students when mainstream help is unavailable.  Wesley Nurse, Theresa Standage, RN, administers the Create A Smile Fund with the help of school nurses and counselors.  Dentists in the Hill Country who have agreed to be a part of the Create A Smile network, give their time and talent to put smiles back on the faces of children with dental issues.  Amy Rector, TCF Business Manager, aids the Wesley Nurse in the process.  Take a look at the workflow chart below:
